HDI was also honored to have Professor Gerusa Dreyer lecture at the
seminar. Prof. Dreyer revolutionized the world’s understanding of lymphatic
filariasis and thus made possible the Global LF Elimination Program possible.
Similarly, Dr. Yankum Dadzie of Ghana, who was then Chairman of the Global
Alliance for LF Elimination and previously headed WHO’s program to eliminate
river blindness (onchocerciasis) from Africa, made a presentation on the
approaches of disease eradication programs. Dr. Jim Zingeser from CDC in
Atlanta, USA and distinguished Norwegian professionals also spoke.
